The Neck Traction Pillow Provides Traction Of The Neck Joints While Returning A Normal Curve Of The Spine

The Neck Traction Pillow was designed to restore the normal curve of the neck, which can be affected by everyday activities such as typing on a keyboard, reading, not sitting up straight and sleeping with the neck in odd positions.

As you comfortably lay on the pillow, the weight of your head gently stretches your neck to its maximum extension, which relaxes the spinal cord. This is really a thoracic pillow, but using it has its effects on the cervical spine as well. It stretches the muscles in the front of the neck and allows the joints to receive proper fluid motion. This is the first step in relieving the symptoms of poor posture.

Great for relief of chronic neck pain and shoulder pain. The pillow works to restore normal position and motion much like braces correct bad teeth alignment. To see if you have poor neck posture see: Self Test for Neck Posture Problems.

Using The Neck Traction Pillow

Lay face up with your neck curved over the top of the thoracic pillow. Allow the weight of your head to gently stretch your upper chest and anterior (front) neck muscles.

It will provide a therapeutic application in order to reverse the ill effects of slouched postures seen with poor sitting habits and leaning forward when working at a computer. Used for just 10 minutes each day can help make a difference. This is a passive method to assist with the corrective neck exercises.

Try to relax as much as possible and let the posture pillow do the work. This is not the time for activity. Set aside 20 minutes to relax. Listen to music, meditate or enjoy some peace and quite, but try not to be disturbed. The goal is to let the orthopedic design to place the cervical spine in its correct positioning. Gradually, the muscles relax and you get a good sense of reversing neck tension and the benefits of improved neck and head posture.

Benefits Of The Neck Traction Pillow

Increased tension in the neck, caused by excessive forward head bending and poor posture, can cause neck pain and headaches, inflammation in the nerve roots, fibrotic and degenerative changes in the nerve roots, impaired nerve conductivity and even organ malfunction and disease.

In other words, “poor neck posture” can cause headaches, neck pain, and even health problems. This is why this special orthopedic device was created, to undo the neck problems that can cause headaches, neck pain and other associated health problems.

It’s no big secret that poor neck posture can cause tension headaches, migraine headaches, neck pain, shoulder tension and even health problems. Chiropractors have been claiming this since 1895. And all of the current medical research backs it up.

  • A 2019 study in the journal Spine used a similar designed device to measure the effects on head and neck posture including forward head posture. The authors indicated that unsupervised daily use of this simple home spinal traction device they call a “Thoracic Pillow”, reduced neck pain symptoms and improved posture after using for 12 weeks, 10 minutes a day.

The thoracic pillow was designed by a Chiropractor specifically for the treatment and correction of poor neck posture that causes headaches, neck pain, and other associated health conditions. By undoing this poor neck posture in the neck with the neck traction pillow the spinal cord and nerve roots can be unstretched. If there is no more tension and stretching in the neck there is no more reason for the muscles to spasm. And without the muscle spasms there is a reduction of the nerve impingement, headaches, neck pain, and other health problems assisted by the use of the pillow.

Using a special orthopedic design, it permits a posture where the shoulders retract, which provides a stretch to tight pectoral muscles in the chest and encourages release of the trapezius and rhomboid muscles of the upper back that can help alleviate that nagging pain between the shoulder blades. It is a great cervical support pillow for stress relief!

Measures 21″ x 11″ x 7″ and made of durable foam. It is best for average size individuals and may be too small or compressible for very large persons. Please note that this is not designed for sleeping. People with headaches and neck pain lay on it for relief, because it restores proper neck posture. Use 10-20 minutes a day.

The neck traction pillow is great for a concentrated therapeutic approach, although, if you are experiencing significant discomfort, you must start slowly as this produces a nice traction effect using the weight of your head, about 10 pounds. If you have never done this type of traction, again, start with a short period of use and then progress if there is no significant increase in pain; some initial soreness is common with the posture pillow, but you should stop if the pain does significantly increase or you experience any type of dizziness.
