How The Neck Wrap Works

When heated in a microwave oven, it releases moisture to provide soothing pain relief at the most effective temperature. Because it increases blood flow to the affected area and relaxes muscles and tendons, moist heat works well on many types of injuries and arthritis.

After treatment, The Hot Packs rejuvenate themselves in just two hours by recovering moisture from the surrounding air. With proper care, the hot packs can be used over and over for years to come.

This form of moist heat is generally more safe than many gel packs, which will continue to rise in temperature when taken out of the microwave and can leak if heated too much.

Instructions & Care

Clean treatment area from body lotions, oils or gels prior to application.

Clean microwave to eliminate food particles and/or fluid residue. These particles and residues can create “hot spots” in the wrap.

Place heat pack in a clean microwave and heat at full power for 60 seconds. (For non-carousel type microwaves, heat 30 seconds and then rotate 180 degrees for an additional 30 seconds).

Touch test before using.

Sixty (60) seconds of heating should bring to the desired temperature. However, if more heat is desired, continue to heat in 30 second intervals until the desired temperature is reached. Always touch test after each additional 30 second interval.

Due to variable power and heat characteristics of microwave ovens, lightly test touch the microwavable neck wrap to determine uniform, safe heat levels prior to applying to neck and shoulders. This is important for all individuals, but especially those who have diabetes, circulatory conditions or altered temperature sensitivity.

Allow it to recover moisture from the air and restore its heating properties for continued use. It is important to always allow it to rest for a minimum of two hours before reheating. (Dryer climates may require additional time). This will allow the wrap to re-absorb moisture from the air.

Only surface wipe (clean water only) with damp cloth if it becomes soiled.

Do not immerse the hot pack in any type of liquid solution – this will destroy the heating properties.

Do not machine wash.

Some of the newer methods to apply heat therapy feature a disposable hot pack that sticks to the area and indicate eight hours of heat. These types of hot packs use iron oxide and provide dry heat, known to cause fluid congestion and increase inflammation. There is nothing to indicate eight hours of dry heat produces greater benefits than a targeted 20 minute treatment using moist heat. While it may feel good, it can actually prolong recovery from injury. They use toxic chemicals and may cause skin irritation and do not adhere well to the skin.

Purpose Of The Microwavable Neck Wrap

It serves a dual function of support and providing moist heat and is recommended for relief of pain associated with arthritis, joint pain, tendinitis, sore and aching muscles, tension and stress. Hydro Pearl technology is superior to wheat, flax or other materials for effectiveness, durability and consistent moist heat.
