Simply put, the Backtivator invigorates and rejuvenates the spine and lower back by creating continuous movement while you sit. Physicians and health care professionals agree that when it comes to joints and cartilage, rest or immobilization can be destructive. Because your spine and back is actually one big joint, it requires a gentle continual motion to stay in shape. Movement is fundamental; when you move a joint, blood and fluid rush to the area. This provides your back with the nourishment it needs to keep your vertebrae healthy. A back in motion is a healthy back.

Features two small, carefully optimized air-filled compartments to ensure that even while sitting, your spine is moving. Only a small amount of air is needed. A subtle transfer of air between the patented compartments creates an unnoticeable movement of your spine. It requires no power source, but instead relies on your own body energy to create the spinal motion. With continuous use your back gets and stays healthy…and ultimately you feel great!

The instability of the requires small postural corrections while sitting. This is done on a subconscious level and, for many people, these small correction help to reduce low back pain and stiffness. Many people are reluctant to move their back when in pain and the activator encourages motion in a gentle and controlled manner.

backtivator usesThe slight instability stimulates sensory reflexes, tightens abdominal muscles and activates the extensor muscles of the lower back allowing easier maintenance of correct posture and back stabilization. The muscles are constantly activated and relaxed to compensate for the small movements keeping the back in a more balanced position, promoting internal stabilization to enhance pain relief.

Compact and small, it is versatile and can be used on the go and comfortably designed for just about any chair. Whether you’re traveling, working, studying, or gaming, it can be easily used to keep your back in better shape by helping to alleviate and prevent back pain.

Made of lightweight, durable neoprene, the special seat cushion has a magnetic snap that allows it to fold for easy carrying. Measures 15″ x 10.5″ and easily fits on any seating surface. Please note: I have found the cushion lasts about a year – not bad considering the abuse it takes. It depends on how and where it is used. In your vehicle, extreme differences in temperatures can cause the product life to be reduced as the internal pressures vary. So, being small, lightweight and easy to carry, it is best to take it with you. Keep away from sharp objects, like keys and sharp teeth and claws of pets. Considering it is upgraded and made of stronger materials, it should last for years with proper attention.

With an L5/S1 disc that is almost completely degenerated, causing low back pain and left sciatica, I have noticed a significant decrease in both pain and stiffness using the Backtivator, especially when driving. I use it for my office chair and when driving. Although I have a couple, I don’t leave it in the car and if I forget to take it when traveling, I realize after a few miles that I will be suffering the consequences. Maybe not for a quick trip, but on long distances it really helps.

3 Easy Steps To Begin Using Your Backtivator

A 2020 study in the journal Human Factors notes prolonged sitting can cause a deficiency of activity of deep muscles which reduce spinal muscular support, resulting in stress on spinal structures, which may result in pain. Sedentary behavior is harmful to health, especially affecting the lower back. By inducing dynamic lumbar movement, this can maintain deep muscle activity during prolonged sitting, thus helping low back pain problems.

A 2020 review in the Journal of Occupational Health indicates a high prevalence of musculoskeletal pain among professional drivers (between 43.1% and 93%). The low back was the most frequently reported body region for pain followed by the neck and upper back. Among the risk factors were prolonged sitting, whole body vibration and awkward posture.

Please note: The unit only has a small amount of air. This is all that is needed to activate while sitting. Especially effective for use in a vehicle. It is not a standard seat cushion.
