Adjustable Memory Foam Pillow Allows A Custom Fit For Any Size Or Sleeping Position

A popular pillow has been the use of shredded foam that is comfortable and adjustable. Most are adjustable within the pillow, however, the adjustable memory foam pillow allows adjustability both within the pillow itself, and also the amount of fill inside the pillow.

This is an adjustable pillow that is not orthopedic in design, but uses high quality materials and permits removing of fill for sizing for adults and children, as well as for side, back or stomach sleeping.

The popular My Pillow has used this basic shredded foam principle for years with much success due to high volume advertising. The benefit is you can adjust the fill in the pillow due to the interlocking nature of the cut or shredded foam. However, you cannot adjust the amount of fill, therefore on pillow is good for average size adults, back and side sleeping.

Does My Pillow not realize different people need different fill for the best fit? Yes they do. What did they do? They came up with different fill amounts in separate pillows. They call it the My Chiro Pillow and market it to professionals. It comes in standard/queen and king size along with four levels of fill. So, eight variables!

Level Of Fill Recommended For
Light Fill Stomach Sleepers & Children 3 to 11
Standard Fill Average Shoulder Width Women & Teenagers
Full Fill Average Shoulder Width Men & Larger Teenagers & Women Broad Shoulders
X-Full Fill Side Sleeping Men Wide Shoulders

The adjustable memory foam pillow provides a solution to this using memory foam that is more comfortable and it is certified to be chemical free. By adjusting the amount of fill, it can be used for children as well as large adults. Additionally, you can adjust areas of the pillow for special support according to your needs.

Make an indentation in the center allows good cervical support and head positioning when back sleeping. Allowing a higher loft is best for side sleeping. You can even adjust it so that one side of the pillow has a higher loft for side sleeping, while the other is lower for back or stomach sleeping.

Take out most of the fill and you have a good pillow for stomach sleepers with a low loft that will not torque the neck. Alternatively, like the My Pillow, you can adjust it as you change positions, as the interlocking nature of the foam tens to stay where you place it.

This is a popular pillow that has great customer service. Although washable, memory foam is not as washable as standard type of foam. The My Pillow is simple to machine wash and dry. The adjustable memory foam pillow requires more care, however, the cover is easily washable.

The standard My Pillow I found to be lacking in comfort and support. The addition of the different fill levels proved more beneficial, however, being able to adjust the amount of fill is truly beneficial. The problem with the My Chiro Pillow is that, with eight variables, stocking was a nightmare. This uses one pillow to get four different fill levels.

I think this is a great general pillow and will fit most needs. However, for neck pain conditions, precision in posturing is important. The therapeutic pillow is going to provide better spinal alignment and keep you in the best position for back and side sleeping.

The thing with the therapeutic pillow is that there are separate areas for back and side sleeping. So, you have to move consciously when changing positions. Well, with the adjustable memory foam pillow, you do need to adjust it as you change positions, so I find the therapeutic to be a better pillow for neck pain and curve restoration. There is also less set up time and you just measure instead of adjusting the pillow.

The foam of the therapeutic is more stable, whereas memory foam and standard shredded foam pillows tend to sink. That being said, if you do not have cervical spine issues like degenerative disc disease of disc herniations, this is a great choice.

Can An Adjustable Memory Foam Pillow Help Specific Neck Conditions?

Yes! With a pinched nerve or cervical radiculopathy, often there is what is called an antalgic position. This means your head is going to lean or tilt to one side. This happens to relieve pressure on a nerve that is being pinched or irritated by a disc or an outgrowth of bone or calcified ligament from degenerative arthritis.

So, this can prove frustrating to get comfortable sleeping. However, with this adjustable memory foam pillow, you can get more fill on one side and less on the other. This allows maintenance of the antalgic position that provides relief when side sleeping.

Another benefit is precise positioning as above; and this also applies to spinal conditions like scoliosis, where you can adjust the pillow to accommodate to specific spinal postures or to a particular configuration that you find most beneficial. This also makes it better able to accommodate muscle strain that alters head positioning.
