Universal Mounting Plate Adapter For Wheelchair Headrest Hardware

The universal mounting plate can be mounted to any solid wheelchair backrest and has pre-threaded holes for many manufacturer’s headrest mounting brackets.

If you already have hardware, most mounting brackets are standard and our hardware should fit in. However, if you are not sure or want to add an extra measure of support and stability, this is a versatile adapter. It will fit any of our hardware and most other manufacturer’s hardware.

This is not for a soft back wheelchair, it must have a solid back or portion that would allow mounting with screws. If you have a soft back wheelchair, you would use a different adapter that mounts to the canes or poles to accommodate a headrest hardware set-up.

Many will use the universal mounting plate for our hardware with a set-up for the Savant headrest or the Apex headrests, however, it is not a necessity for all wheelchairs. This adapter can give you peace of mind that your hardware will fit safe and securely and can help extend the life of the backrest should you need to remove on a frequent basis.

The hardware mounting adapter can also be purchased for use with different manufacturer’s hardware as a stand alone adapter. If any new hardware does not align with existing holes, this can help with mounting and can also have an aesthetic value as opposed to experimenting by drilling or screwing in different locations.

The decision depends on what type of back you have. Some wheelchair manufacturers have their own universal adapter that can be installed when purchasing the wheelchair. If you switch to any of our hardware, it should work. However, this is recommended when there is no existing headrest hardware and for those backs that are made of lighter weight plastic to help increase surface area for additional support, as well as some of our heavier hardware options like the flip or extended twin.
