The neck support traction will support tight muscles and help relieve joint and nerve pressure

The Neck Support Traction is comfortable, lightweight and easy to use for support and traction therapy. It is easily portable and convenient to take to work, for travel and home use.

A hand held bulb inflates the device with air as the traction provides a gentle stretch to the neck which is controlled to your level of comfort, pain relief and support.

neck support traction

The neck support traction has been a very popular product over the years and is great for people that spend long hours doing paperwork, working at a computer, watching TV or any activity where the focus of your head and neck is bent forward for long periods of time.

I have used this device as an ALS Neck Support in a patient who enjoyed the flexibility and comfort sitting at the computer.

Anytime you need relief from tight and stiff neck muscles, joint and nerve pressure or you feel a headache coming on, just place the support around your neck and pump the inflation bulb until you feel a comfortable traction. This stretching gently relaxes tight muscles, relieves joint and nerve pressure and supports the head. It is capable of up to 110 lbs of traction and made with a lightweight rubber covered with soft textile at top and bottom.

Works to traction and separate the joints of the neck to remove nerve pressure and assist the muscles and ligaments in support of the head. Poor neck posture can be maintained by muscle tightness and fixations of the joints. The neck support traction helps loosen these tight joints and muscles.

The neck support is indicated for tight muscles, pinched nerves, neck pain, tension headaches, poor neck posture and for degenerative discs or joints. It is not for recent injuries or acute conditions where swelling and inflammation are present.

The neck support traction will provide stretch to the neck, but does not constrict or put pressure into the neck. If properly used, you should not feel soreness following use, however, as with any stretching routine, you should start easy and increase gradually. If soreness occurs, you need to reduce the time and intensity of use.

Built in safety features include a pressure relief valve located on the inflation bulb. If the pressure gets too high the valve will automatically release pressure to a safer level and the velcro closures will only support a certain amount of pressure before unfastening.

You should let your head rest back on the neck support traction as you inflate it which puts the stretch on the back of your head and off the jaw. Anyone with jaw, T.M.J., or dental problems needs to contact their health care professional prior to using the neck support traction.

For added comfort and support, it is available in the following neck sizes;
Regular (14 - 16 inches) | Large (16 - 18 inches) | X-Large (18 -20 inches) | XX-Large (20 - 22 inches)

Directions:

1. Place the Neck Support Traction gently around your neck, and attach the velcro closure in the back. You should feel no discomfort of any type. Check to make sure there is no squeezing sensation in your neck.

2. Sit up straight, and rest your back in the chair. Keep your head pointed straight ahead looking out at eye-level. Close the metal valve, and pump the bulb until you feel a light stretch of the neck. Let the back of your head rest comfortably back inside the unit. Relax your muscles. Pump it again in gradual increments, until you feel a pleasant stretch.

3. Now you're ready for the final step. Open the metal valve slowly to release the air pressure.

Traction:

You will achieve the best results with regular applications. Begin your program with short traction sessions (3-5 minutes each). After the first week, you can gradually increase the amount of pressure, and length of the traction sessions by a few minutes. Sessions should always be comfortable. If you notice increases soreness and symptoms returning, decrease the length of your session. Take things slowly in the beginning for optimum results.

When you are ready to extend stretching sessions to longer periods (10-20 minutes), always use the lowest amount of pressure that still provides an easy stretch. Stronger traction should always be for shorter periods of time (maximum 3-5 minutes), and for individuals who are acclimated to the neck support.

After Care:

Following your traction session, you may find it helpful to go through a series of slow, gentle range-of-motion exercises, 5-10 of each, including: Flexion, Extension, Rotation (turn right and left), Lateral Bending (ear to shoulder, right and left), and "Chicken Pecks" (are described as pushing your head back and forward). You may hear a clicking sound during these stretches. This is entirely normal, unless pain or discomfort occurs.

gentle exercises used after session with the neck support traction

The Neck Support Traction is the ideal solution of individuals with neck problems to use at home or work.

Frequency: The maximum length of time for a traction session is 20 minutes. However, you can gradually build up to doing four sessions per day. Note: Only increase the sessions if the traction remains comfortable, and symptoms do not increase.

Warning: If you feel lightheaded, dizzy, nauseous or experience any other type of pain, etc. while using the Neck Support, slowly release the air, and discuss these symptoms with your health care professional. Do not use while walking or driving, operating potentially harmful equipment, or near sharp objects.

Usage Lying Down: To use the Neck Support while lying down, individuals should position a pillow under the head creating a space for the product behind the neck for comfort.

Note: You may initially experience a smell of the natural rubber. In time this will dissipate when your product is removed from the protective wrapping and is exposed to air.
